Based on the above statement, is this somehow related to the volume of data being added in one go? - This led me to believe it was possibly related to recursing my entire drive, which I always do after adding any new tracks. I stress tracks because I don't believe I've had the issue when adding a single individual track. Have only seen it after I add new tracks, which I hate doing now for fear of losing a large amount of data - I can live with losing 1 or 2 tracks' data, but losing data on hundreds is a major pain in the ass. When it happens, its not unique to 1 artist/genre/folder. Very random: can happen on 1 track or 161 (as reported in the above thread). My drives are working perfectly, less than 6 months old & my data is contiguous. Should it not have updated with today's date? I reopened VDJ and noticed that the bpm and cue points that I just added were still there.Yes, still there for me, as posted in your other post here: What I do know is that: - It's not specifically a USB/external drive thing. After I was done and closed VDJ, I noticed that the "date modified" field stayed the same. As for the database xml file, I was monitoring it while I analyzed some songs. called "VirtualDJ Local Database v6.xml" (IE: if your external drive is called F:\, if you open the F: drive the "local" database should be visible Thank you very much. The first one (on a windows computer) is located in your "documents/virtual dj " folder called "VirtualDJ Database v6.xml" The second database will be located on the secondary/external drive on the top level or 'root level'. Before making any major changes you should backup those databases. If you also use an external or secondary drive to store your music, a database will ALSO be placed their. Q:: Where are my cue points stored? or I lost my cue points, where did they go? A:: VDJ stores all the information it collects in. any copying or moving of songs must be done within VDJ, otherwise the database is unable to track the changes. I mostly make changes on my external drive and then copy over the internal drive's contents. making an EXACT copy/backup of an external drive is ok (the one exemption), as the original file path stays intact. using explorer (or some other program) to move or copy or rename files means VDJ will lose track of those files and all information related to it. 'right click' and select 'File operations'::'Move to' or 'Copy to' this will automatically update the databases. If the original path to a song was F:\My Music\Rock\Kiss - Beth.mp3 and you change the path too F:\Music\Rock\Kiss - Beth.mp3 ALL the songs in the "music" folder will lose their information! If you need to move or copy songs to a different location, you need to do this within VDJ. called "VirtualDJ Local Database v6.xml" (IE: if your external drive is called F:\, if you open the F: drive the "local" database should be visible VDJ stores information for each song and relates it to name of the file AND THE PATH!!! this is very important.
